Finding a Video or Set of Videos in the KMC

A big part of using videos in Kaltura is just finding the right video or set of videos. There are three tools you can use to help you at the top of the
Entries page in the KMC: Search Entries, Filter Categories, Refine. Image 1

Search Entries

The search bar at the top of the Entries page in the KMC is very helpful in finding videos and you can click on the gear icon to search specific video attributes. If you are trying to find a specific video from Canvas, take a look at the steps to identify the video Entry ID .

If you are searching for all videos with a certain tag or that are owned by a specific person, you can select the appropriate filter and then do a search. Or you can just do a quick search for the Entry ID for example:

Sometimes a teacher has named their videos something like:
Sped 4000 Summer21 Video 1
Sped 4000 Summer21 Video 2

If this is the case, then you could do a search for “Sped 4000 Summer21” to hopefully get a list of all the videos for that course. You will want to double check that they are the right videos - but if they are, there is a quick way in the KMC to add a category to multiple videos.

Filter Categories

If you know that a set of videos you are already looking for has already been added to a category, you can use the category filter. This is especially helpful once all videos for a course have been added and you are ready to caption them:

Refine

The refine box provides some specific filters that can help you narrow down what videos you are looking for. The one you will probably use most often is “Video without Captions” so you don’t submit any videos that are already captioned:
