IDEA Evaluation and Evaluation Extra Credit Requests
Selecting IDEA Evaluation Objectives

Process to provide credit on student evaluations (IDEA)
Faculty have an option to provide points in Canvas to students who submit their course evaluations, without sacrificing student anonymity.
Request Form
There is a request form that needs to be filled out: https://www.usu.edu/aaa/eval/canvas_grades_request.cfm
The AAA office fulfills the requests. Currently Jonny Tanner is the person who manages the requests. The request form asks for the Canvas course code. This is the SIS ID of the course ([CRN].[Termcode] or [Xlist Code][Termcode]
It also asks how many points students should be awarded for completing the extra credit.
How it works
When a request is received, the AAA office adds the course to a script that is run regularly once course evaluations are underway. The script creates an assignment in Canvas for the course evaluation, which it sets at the number or points requested. Then it pushes through a result score of 100% to the assignment for each student it has an evaluation record for. That 100% gets translated to the number of points associated with the assignment.
If an assignment has already been created for the evaluation, the script will simply update the existing assignment rather than create a new assignment.
Request form is needed every semester
Neither AAA nor CIDI keeps track of requests in order to renew them on an ongoing basis. Faculty have to submit the form above every semester in which they want to provide credit for evaluations.
